Adolescent – 13-17
Kingwood Pines Hospital provides crisis services to adolescents, ages 13 – 17. Youth in crisis require a caring staff with specialized skills in therapeutic intervention, problem-solving, family therapy and discharge planning. Up to three hallways provide separate areas for male and female patients. Our gymnasium provides an outlet, led by a licensed recreational therapist, as well as art therapy and other group activities designed to help youth process emotions and psychiatric issues.
Most Common Reasons for Admission for Youth Include:
- Severe Depression and Mood Swings
- Aggressive and Violent Behavior
- Suicidal Thoughts or Suicide Attempt
- Significant Self Harm
In all of our units, especially those involving children and adolescents, family involvement is highly encouraged to ensure a smooth transition to outpatient services upon discharge.
